Magnesium is involved in more than 300 enzymatic reactions in the body, yet it remains one of the most commonly under-consumed minerals in modern diets. What makes magnesium supplementation more complex than it first appears is that different tissues, organs, and biochemical pathways have preferential uptake for different chemical forms of the mineral. A single-form magnesium supplement addresses only part of that picture.
Dr Wilson's Mighty Magnesium® was formulated by Dr James L. Wilson, ND, DC, PhD — a clinician with over two decades of specialisation in the biochemistry of stress and adrenal function. The formula combines five distinct bioavailable forms of elemental magnesium in a sustained-release capsule, designed to support a broad range of physiological processes over an extended absorption window rather than delivering a single concentrated dose.
Why five forms?
Each magnesium salt carries its mineral cargo into the body via a different transport mechanism and is distributed to different compartments and tissues:
Magnesium fumarate contributes to the Krebs cycle and is particularly relevant to cellular energy metabolism and mitochondrial function. Magnesium glycerinate (also known as bisglycinate) is highly bioavailable, well-tolerated by the gastrointestinal tract, and associated with support for the nervous system and relaxation. Magnesium malate pairs the mineral with malic acid, which is also a Krebs cycle intermediate, thereby supporting muscle comfort and energy production. Magnesium citrate is one of the most researched and clinically familiar forms, with good solubility and absorption. Magnesium taurate combines magnesium with the amino acid taurine, which has roles in cardiovascular function and nervous system modulation.
By presenting all five forms simultaneously, Mighty Magnesium supports a wider range of body systems than a single-form supplement can.
Cofactors for absorption and utilisation
The formula includes two key cofactors. Vitamin B6, delivered as pyridoxal-5-phosphate (the biologically active form that does not require hepatic conversion), supports the intracellular uptake and retention of magnesium. Vitamin C, administered at a low, targeted dose as ascorbic acid, supports the acidic environment that is beneficial for mineral solubilisation in the gastrointestinal tract. A small amount of apple cider vinegar is included for the same purpose — to assist with mineral dissociation and uptake in the upper gastrointestinal tract.
The sustained-release formulation distributes absorption across a longer timeframe, reducing the likelihood of gastrointestinal discomfort that can occur when higher doses of magnesium are absorbed rapidly, and supporting more stable plasma magnesium levels throughout the day.
Manufactured in the United States in a facility operating under FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), with verified purity, potency, and quality.

Cautions
Not recommended for individuals with severe renal impairment without medical supervision, as magnesium excretion is dependent on kidney function. Consult a health practitioner if you are taking medications or have a pre-existing health condition. Keep out of reach of children. Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
