Men's Nutrients

Men's Nutrients is a comprehensive multivitamin, mineral, and trace element complex formulated specifically to address the nutritional priorities of men over 40. Building on a foundation of activated and chelated micronutrients, the formula integrates four targeted proprietary blends — ProstaProtect Plus, MacularSynergy Complex, Cardio Polyphenol Complex, and EnduraBoost Blend — alongside key trademarked ingredient forms that meaningfully differentiate it from standard retail multivitamins.

Micronutrient Foundation As with Pure Encapsulations' broader practitioner range, the formula employs activated and highly bioavailable forms throughout. Folate is supplied as Metafolin® L-5-MTHF — the naturally occurring, physiologically active form of folate that is universally metabolised regardless of MTHFR polymorphism status, bypassing the conversion steps that a significant proportion of the population cannot perform efficiently with standard synthetic folic acid. Vitamin B12 is delivered as methylcobalamin, the neurologically active, coenzyme form. Riboflavin (B2) and vitamin B6 are provided in part as their respective coenzyme forms — riboflavin 5'-phosphate and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate — avoiding the hepatic activation dependency of standard forms.

Minerals are supplied as superior chelates throughout: calcium, magnesium, zinc, and manganese as citrates; potassium as potassium citrate; boron as boron glycinate; chromium as chromium polynicotinate; and vanadium as bis-glycinate oxo vanadium. Selenium is provided as Selenomax® — a high-selenium yeast providing selenium in organic, naturally complexed form, which research suggests is more efficiently retained than inorganic selenium salts. Yeast-derived selenium is particularly relevant in a men's formulation given the established role of selenium in prostate tissue antioxidant defence.

Vitamin D3 is provided as cholecalciferol at 500 IU per serving (1,000 IU at full daily dose). Vitamin E is delivered as d-alpha tocopherol succinate, the most stable and well-absorbed esterified form.

A broad-spectrum antioxidant base is provided by naturally derived vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, alpha lipoic acid, and a proprietary mixed carotenoid blend (lutein, lycopene, zeaxanthin). Inositol is included at 62.5 mg per serving for its cofactor roles in cellular signalling and lipid metabolism.

ProstaProtect Plus This targeted blend supports the structural and functional integrity of the prostate gland using a combination of well-characterised botanical extracts and micronutrient cofactors. Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) fruit extract is standardised to 45% total fatty acids — the active lipophilic fraction associated with support for healthy prostate tissue and normal urinary flow. Pygeum (Pygeum africanum) bark extract is standardised to 2.5% total sterols. Green tea (Camellia sinensis) leaf extract is standardised to 65% total catechins and 23% EGCG, contributing antioxidant support for prostate cell integrity alongside lycopene (500 mcg), a fat-soluble carotenoid with particular affinity for prostate tissue. Synergistic micronutrient cofactors — selenium, vitamin D3, vitamin E, and zinc — further support prostate tissue health through their respective antioxidant and regulatory roles.

MacularSynergy Complex Provides FloraGLO® lutein (3 mg) — the most extensively researched lutein ingredient globally, with multiple randomised controlled trials supporting macular pigment optical density — alongside zeaxanthin (500 mcg), with synergistic cofactors vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, and carotenoids to help maintain the structural integrity of the macula and retina.

Cardio Polyphenol Complex A concentrated polyphenol blend delivering red wine (Vitis vinifera) concentrate standardised to 25% total polyphenols, grape seed (Vitis vinifera) extract standardised to 92% polyphenols, and pomegranate (Punica granatum) extract standardised to 40% punicosides — providing a diverse range of polyphenolic cofactors to help maintain healthy vascular function and endothelial integrity.

EnduraBoost Blend Maca (Lepidium meyenii) tuber extract (100 mg) is combined with astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) root extract (50 mg) to support physical vitality and help maintain healthy energy levels. Maca is a Peruvian adaptogenic root with a traditional and clinical use record for supporting energy, vitality, and male reproductive health. Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) is a well-established adaptogenic herb in traditional Chinese medicine, supported by modern research for its immunomodulatory polysaccharide content and its role in maintaining physical resilience and normal energy metabolism.

Men's Nutrients shares the same superior micronutrient platform as Women's Nutrients 40+ (Metafolin®, methylcobalamin, activated B2 and B6, chelated minerals), with the proprietary blends purposefully reconfigured for male physiological priorities. Key clinical points:

Saw palmetto dose and standardisation: At 160 mg per serving (320 mg at full daily dose of 6 capsules), standardised to 45% total fatty acids, this sits within the range used in clinical trials. The fatty acid fraction — not the whole berry powder — is the biologically active component, and standardisation to this fraction matters clinically. Many retail-grade products use unstandardised whole berry powder at doses that deliver a fraction of the active constituent.

Selenium as Selenomax® (selenium yeast): Organic selenium yeast is the preferred form for prostate tissue support, according to the clinical literature. The SELECT trial used selenomethionine specifically; however, selenium yeast provides a broader spectrum of selenoproteins including selenomethionine alongside other organic selenium compounds, which some researchers consider a more physiologically representative delivery mechanism.

Lycopene at 500 mcg: This is a modest dose within the ProstaProtect Plus blend and primarily serves as a synergistic antioxidant cofactor for prostate tissue rather than a standalone therapeutic dose. Patients requiring higher lycopene support for specific clinical indications should be supplemented separately.

EnduraBoost Blend — formula note: Some earlier-edition listings of Men's Nutrients show Cordyceps sinensis (certified organic, from mycelia) in place of astragalus in the EnduraBoost Blend. The Nutriessential and Mountainside Pharmacy listings — which appear to reflect the current formulation — show astragalus. Please verify the EnduraBoost Blend composition against the physical product label you receive, as the formula may have been revised between batches. I have listed astragalus based on the most current available sources.

Vitamin D3 at 500 IU per serving (1,000 IU full dose): As with the Women's formulation, this is a foundational maintenance dose appropriate for daily multivitamin inclusion, but will likely be insufficient as a corrective dose in men with established insufficiency. For patients with low 25(OH)D levels, standalone vitamin D3 supplementation in addition to this product will be appropriate.

Biotin at 400 mcg: Lower than the 1,000 mcg in Women's Nutrients 40+, reflecting a deliberate formulation decision appropriate for male patients where hair, skin, and nail support is a lesser priority in the context of the overall formula.
